Nearly two years after Pokémon Go took the world by storm, we're getting a new AR video game that will introduce a much bigger monster to collect.

Universal Pictures and Ludia have jointly announced Jurassic World Alive, a new game that will allow players to interact with and collect dinosaurs while roaming around their own neighborhoods and cities all across the globe.

Dinosaurs can be discovered through locating them on a map and deploying an in-game drone to collect DNA samples, which will also allow gamers to level up their dinosaurs and the ability to create genetically modified dinosaurs in a lab, like the Indominus Rex or the Indoraptor. Once captured, all collected dinosaurs can be used in a real-time player-versus-player arena battle to earn even more awesome rewards.

The game will be available on iOS and Android ahead of the release of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom on June 22, but if you want to get ahead of the curve, then head to www.jurassicworldalive.com and pre-register to receive a free rare incubator when the game launches.

MONTREAL, Canada and UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif., March 7, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Universal, in partnership with top mobile-game developer, Ludia, is set to launch Jurassic World™ Alive, it was announced today. This marks the first time that a mobile game brings the thrill of Jurassic World dinosaurs to life to interact and roam freely alongside fans using location-based technology and augmented reality (AR).

Jurassic World™ Alive is the third mobile game partnership between Universal and Ludia for the record-setting Jurassic World™ film franchise. The game will launch globally on the App Store and Google Play, just ahead of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom™, which arrives in theaters across Canada and the U.S. on June 22, 2018.

In Jurassic World™ Alive, players can collect a variety of dinosaurs while exploring their own neighborhoods and cities around the world. Free in-game incubators and exclusive dinosaurs, including unimaginable creatures featured in Jurassic World™ and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom™ lie behind every corner, just waiting to be discovered.

Alex Thabet, President and CEO of Ludia, says: "With Jurassic World™ Alive, our goal is for audiences to be fully immersed into a world with living dinosaurs in a way that's never been possible until today. We're giving them the opportunity to explore and connect with likeminded players while building and interacting with these powerful prehistoric species."

To bring the dinosaurs of Jurassic World™ to life, the game will leverage the latest in AR technology, allowing players to pose and take pictures and videos with dinosaurs they've collected during gameplay. Players discover dinosaurs by locating them on a map and deploying an in-game drone to collect DNA samples. This gives the player the ability to level up and create genetically modified dinosaurs in a lab, then compete in real-time player-versus-player arena battles to earn more rewards.

"Jurassic World™ fans have long dreamed of seeing these majestic and sometimes frightening creatures in real life. With the location and AR technology available today, we can finally make that dream a reality," said Chris Heatherly, Executive Vice President of Games and Digital Platforms, Universal Brand Development. "We are thrilled to once again work with Ludia and think this will be the biggest and most exciting game in the franchise yet!"

Jurassic World™ Alive is the latest in a strategic expansion by Universal into gaming. Last year, Universal announced a significant build-up of its games team, as well as a more active approach and investment into game development. The partnership with Ludia on this title is one of the first of a bold slate of games rolling out in 2018 and beyond.
