While it initially appeared as if Rampage would disappoint at the North America box office and fall to horror movie A Quiet Place, business picked up over the weekend and the movie made a respectable $34.5 million during its first three days of release. While that number may increase, it's still below expectations and not quite up there with the $54 million made by Brad Peyton's San Andreas.
Overseas, the news for Rampage was more positive because it debuted there with a whopping $55 million. That takes its international total up to $114.1 million for a worldwide cume of $148.6 million.
It's said that the movie - which reteams Dwayne Johnson with Peyton for the third time - cost around $120 million to make before marketing so it doesn't have to be a $1 billion hit to turn a profit. However, with Avengers: Infinity War on the horizon, Rampage will have to start earning money fast if it hopes to launch another franchise for Johnson to take the lead in. Did you guys see the movie?
