Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds has joined an in-development sci-fi comedy film which follws an NPC who realises he's living in a video game and subsequently works tirelessly to prevent the game's cancellation.
The details on the upcoming film were reported by Deadline, they revealed that the film will be written by Matt Lieberman and directed by, not only Stranger Things showrunner and Uncharted director Shawn Levy, but also Reynolds himself. Greg Producers include the two directors as well as Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, Adam Kolbrener, and George Dewey.
The film's Wreck-It Ralph meets The Truman Show plot is described as such: "A bank teller stuck in his routine discovers he’s a background character in a rather brutal open world, action-adventure video game and he is the only one capable of saving his world." By the sounds of it, it seems like the film has taken influence from Rockstar Games' 2013 smash-hit Grand Theft Auto V.
What are your thoughts on the film's premise? What do you think of the attached names?
