Steven Speilberg's READY PLAYER ONE Eyeing A $50M+ 4-Day Opening Weekend

The Easter holiday will give WB's Ready Player One an extra day to do weekend box office damage. Though critics of the novel have derided the project from day one, film critics have provided favorable scores.

The lull before the box office bonanza of Avengers: Infinity War and Deadpool 2 will look to be interrupted by Steven Speilberg's Ready Player One this weekend.  The film earned $3.75M from Wednesday night previews and will look to take the #1 box office spot from Pacific Rim: Uprising this weekend as estimates have the film tacking for a $52-$55M domestic opening across four days.

Ready Player One currently has a 78% certified fresh score from Rotten Tomatoes.  The film, which stars Mark Rylance, Tye Sheridan, Olivia Cooke, Ben Mendelsohn, T.J. Miller, and Simon Pegg carries a hefty $175M production budget so it will need strong word-of-mouth and international returns to turn a profit for WB.
