We're still waiting on news about Grand Theft Auto VI, but it was confirmed yesterday that Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition is on the way later this year.
Set for release on Xbox Series X, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC, that will feature remastered editions of Grand Theft Auto III, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas with improved visuals and modern gameplay mechanics.
The current versions of the games have been removed from sale, but a now removed listing on Base.com seemingly confirmed that this set will cost $69.99. That's led to a surprising amount of backlash online as it's a hefty price tag for a remastered title (even three of them).
Considering the amount of time it takes to play through these Grand Theft Auto games (particularly San Andreas), this doesn't seem too unreasonable on Rockstar's part, and it's hard to escape the feeling that some of this frustration could come from the lack of news on a Grand Theft Auto V sequel. That game's endless re-releases has become a meme, even if GTA Online remains popular.
We're expecting much more to be revealed about Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition in the next few weeks, including a first look at gameplay footage and a release date.
