Earlier this week, rumours that suggested Konami was re-releasing a handful of titles in the Metal Gear series started doing the rounds. According to multiple sources, actually, the games that were being rumoured to be re-released on PC were the original Metal Gear, Metal Gear Solid, and Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty.
After the release of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain in 2015, and following Metal Gear series creator Hideo Kojima's departure from Konami, the developer hadn't done much with the critically acclaimed series — except for the critically panned Metal Gear Survive — so this was relatively good news.
As it turns out, the rumours were true, as Konami has just announced that the original Metal Gear, Metal Gear Solid, and Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty are, indeed, being re-released on PC via GOG, and players can actually enjoy these phenomenal titles today.
What's more, Konami also announced the Konami Collector's Series Castlevania & Contra, which is a collection that includes the original Castlevania, Castlevania II: Simon's Quest, Castlevania: Dracula's Curse, Contra, and Super C — which, like the Metal Gear collection, has also become available today on GOG.
Rumours also claimed that Konami is working on a full remake of the first Metal Gear Solid, and that this game is allegedly being developed for the PlayStation 5 and PC. Unfortunately, this has yet to be confirmed, but the fact that the previously rumoured titles have been officially confirmed is a pretty good start.
