Red Dead Redemption 2 is currently only available on Xbox One and PlayStation 4, but that could change in the future. The
Red Dead Redemption 2 mobile companion app went live recently and fans have apparently found evidence that a PC version of the game along with VR support could be coming.
Rockstar Intel has an entire list of files that strongly suggest a PC version of the western game is in the works. Specific file names like "PARAM_companionAutoConnectIpPC" and "CommandIsPcVersion(void) 000000000166A12C" directly mention the PC. Another file, "PARAM_HDStreamingInFligh," specifically mentions a feature present in
Grand Theft Auto V on PC.
Furthermore, the film makes multiple mentions of the virtual reality hardware brand Oculus. As
IGN notes, Rockstar hasn't typically supported VR in its games, although the developer did create a stripped-back version of
L.A. Noire for HTC Vive.
The notion of a PC port of
Red Dead Redemption 2 coming at some point in the future shouldn't be too surprising to anyone familiar with Rockstar's habits.
Grand Theft Auto V was available on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 for over a year before finally coming to PC. Given the discovery of these files in the companion app, it's possible the wait could be less for
Red Dead Redemption 2.
