It today's special report, Rockstar Games announced that the critically acclaimed
Red Dead Redemption 2 is officially the biggest entrainment launch of 2018, beating this year's
Call of Duty, Black Ops IIII, Ubisoft's
Far Cry 5 and
Assassin's Creed: Odyssey, Eminem's latest album titled
Kamikaze, and even Marvel Studios' cinematic juggernauts
Black Panther and
Avengers: Infinity War.
That's not all, as
Red Dead Redemption 2's impressive list of initial benchmarks also includes the second biggest launch (three days) in retail sell-through across all entertainment releases, most pre-ordered full game ever on Sony's PlayStation Network, biggest day one full game sales ever on PlayStation Network, and biggest first three days full game sales ever on PlayStation Network.
While the title hasn't managed to match
Grand Theft Auto V's score when it comes to retail sell-through during its first three days,
RDR2 is the second-highest grossing entertainment launch of all time next to Rockstar's last title with over $725 million in global sales during its launch weekend. Basing on rough data,
RDR2 already nearly eclipsed the lifetime sales of the original's - 15 million.
