Rockstar has announced Red Dead Redemption - including its standalone zombie expansion Undead Nightmare - will arrive on PC on 29th October. The game will be available on the Rockstar Store, Steam and the Epic Games Store.
Rockstar confirmed that "for the first time in its storied legacy, John Marston's beloved journey can be experienced on PC in stunning, new detail, with both Red Dead Redemption and its iconic zombie-horror companion story, Undead Nightmare, arriving to PC on October 29.
“In collaboration with Double Eleven, this new version adds PC-specific enhancements including native 4K resolution at up to 144hz on compatible hardware, monitor support for both Ultrawide (21:9) and Super Ultrawide (32:9), HDR10 support, and full keyboard and mouse functionality,” said Rockstar in a blog post.
“There’s also support for NVIDIA DLSS 3.7 and AMD FSR 3.0 upscaling technologies, NVIDIA DLSS Frame Generation, adjustable draw distances, shadow quality settings, and more.”
The arrival of Red Dead Redemption and Undead Nightmare on PC is a dream come true for many fans who have been waiting for this moment for years. With its rich storyline, memorable characters, and vast open-world environment, Red Dead Redemption is a game that has captivated audiences across various platforms. Now, PC gamers will finally have the opportunity to experience this masterpiece in all its glory.
Red Dead Redemption was first released for PS3 and Xbox 360 on May 18, 2010, before hitting PS4 and Nintendo Switch in August 2023. The title is also available on current Xbox systems, due to the availability of the Xbox 360 version on the Xbox store. Both the Xbox One and the Xbox Series X/S generations of consoles can play the 360 version via backwards compatibility.
Red Dead Redemption 2 was released for PS4 and Xbox One in October 2018, before making its way to PC in November 2019.
Double Eleven has also worked on the likes of Fallout 76, Minecraft Dungeons, Grounded, and the Prison Architect series.
Hints as to the existence of Red Dead Redemption PC have been swirling for months now, ever since a datamine in May mentioned the project. Since then, it's popped up in a number of other places, suggesting that this might have been a pretty badly-kept secret. Given, however, that we got a PS4 port of Red Dead 1 last year, I'd argue that this new PC announcement is pretty overdue.
Mark your calendars for October 29, as Red Dead Redemption and Undead Nightmare are set to ride into PC town.
