Gibson Guitar and Gears of War: E-Day put Marcus and Dom on real wood guitars. The Instagram post from @gibsonguitar is the entry door: four one-of-a-kind, hand-painted guitars built around the Fenix and Santiago pairing, with three of them in a sweepstakes that closes October 9.
The caption is the same line Gibson used on X. Some bonds are forged in battle. Others are built with six strings. Tag the friend you will run E-Day with. Comment #GearsOfWarGibsonSweepstakes.
Artist Luke Preece painted the set. Two Les Paul bodies carry Marcus Fenix. Two SG bodies carry Dominic Santiago. Preece signed and numbered all four. Because they were painted by hand, even the matching designs are not copies.
Three prizes go out. Two Marcus Les Pauls and one Dom SG. Official terms value each guitar at £3,000. The fourth stays out of the draw. Allocation of which design you get is at the promoter's discretion if you win.
How to enter is narrow. You comment on a collab post from @gibsonguitar, @gearsofwar, @xboxuk, @lukepreeceart, or composer Adam Lastiwka, tag a companion, and use the hashtag. One entry per person. Public Instagram account. Eligible markets only. Full rules live at promoterterms.com/GearsofWarGibson. The window runs 00:01 BST on August 19 through 23:59 BST on October 9. Xbox Wire said winners would be drawn at random and named on October 16.
Preece has painted for Metallica and Ozzy Osbourne as well as Gears. On the Marcus Les Paul he dropped the full Lancer silhouette after it fought the body shape, then wrapped saw teeth around the back of the guitar with blood across the finish. He keeps a Lancer replica in the studio. The Dom SG is the quieter brother instrument. Gibson framed the pairing as Les Paul and SG standing in for Marcus and Dom.
The guitars debuted in public at the Xbox booth at Gamescom 2026 in Cologne. Gibson later posted a clip of guitarist Charlie Parra del Riego playing Lastiwka's E-Day theme on one of the painted instruments.
Gears of War: E-Day itself lands October 6, 2026 on Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PC, including Game Pass. The Coalition built it in Unreal Engine 5. The campaign is an origin story set 14 years before the 2006 game, on Emergence Day, when the Locust first break the surface. John DiMaggio and Carlos Ferro are back as Marcus and Dom. Horde Siege and Versus ride alongside the campaign. Xbox called it a console exclusive. PC is still in.
That puts the sweepstakes three days after launch and a week before the winner post. You can be in a match on the 6th and still have time to comment on the 9th.
E-Day is the first mainline Gears campaign in years and the first time the series has spent a full game on that first night. The Gibson drop is merch with a pulse. It is also a reminder that the franchise's loudest image is still two soldiers and a chainsaw.
If you want the guitar, read the terms before you spam the hashtag. Participating markets only. Eighteen and up. One comment counts. Do not expect a fourth guitar to appear in the prize pool.
