We have know for quite a while that Sega and studio Ryū ga Gotoku had been working on a brand-new entry in their critically acclaimed
Yakuza series; with details about the new game make their way online every now and then.
Just a few weeks ago, Sega officially announced
Yakuza: Like a Dragon, revealed to be a PlayStation 4 exclusive title and expected to release in Japan on the
16th of January — although we werent given any information about the game releasing in the West.
Today, Sega has released an official announcement trailer for
Yakzua: Like a Dragon, although this time confirming that the game will also be releasing outside of Japan. With the announcement we also got a lengthy trailer that introduces us to Ichiban Kasuga — the
Yakuza series' new main protagonist — and reveals some vague plot points about the game.
What we didnt get, however, was an official release date for the game, but Sega assures that
Yakuza: Like a Dragon will be releasin here in the West at some point in 2020. Their trackrecord suggests that the game could end up releasing within 6 months after its launch in Japan; so we'll just have to wait a little bit more for confirmation.
Yakuza: Like a Dragon introduces a new main protagonist for the first time since the series’ inception over a decade ago — Ichiban Kasuga, a low-level yakuza member looking to prove his self-worth, and follows him and his motley crew of unlikely allies as they attempt to rise from rags to riches in this modern human drama.
Yakuza: Like a Dragon is expected to release for the PlayaStation 4 in 2020.
