A Way Out's director Josef Fares has only good things to say about his collaboration with Electronic Arts. The company’s Originals label was designed to support independently-developed video games with smaller budgets like Unravel 1 & 2, Fe, Sea of Solitude (coming 2019) - and also A Way Out, Hazelight Studios' highly successful adventure game that sold over 1 million copies in two weeks.
Last month, Fares expressed the hope that players will change their attitude while criticizing Electronic Arts, as the publisher apparently offers the developers a "super good support." The Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons director continues this narrative in an interview with Eurogamer, as he also revealed that his next game will feel like it's made by Hazelight but it will definitely be very different than Brothers.
"Yeah, we're with EA," Fares explained. "It's no problem. It's super-good support. I don't care what publisher I work with it's going to be the same. This is how I work: I respect the economical aspect but nobody f***s with the vision - it's very, very important. And they know it at EA now, and they're super-supportive - super-supportive. It's not triple-A big but it's bigger than A Way Out," Fares said.
His next project will take a long time to build. "It's hard to say but maybe in two or three years we show something," Fares said. All we know for sure is that this project will be a bigger production and longer experience than A Way Out. It sounds like Hazelight will play with the well-known co-op formula once again, and we can't wait to hear more, as A Way Out undoubtedly deserves its praise and success.
From the creators of Brothers - A Tale of Two Sons comes A Way Out, an exclusively co-op adventure where you play the role of one of two prisoners making their daring escape from prison. What begins as a thrilling breakout quickly turns into an unpredictable, emotional adventure unlike anything seen or played before.
A Way Out is currently available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC!
