Embark Studios has acknowledged a growing pain point for its extraction shooter ARC Raiders: the lack of meaningful endgame content for dedicated players. In a new interview with GamesRadar+, production director Caio Braga addressed feedback from longtime fans who have sunk hundreds of hours into the game since its October 2025 launch and are now looking for fresh challenges.

While casual players continue to enjoy the core loop of raids, extraction, and PvE threats, many hardcore members of the community have voiced frustration over the limited activities available once the main content is exhausted. This issue has become more noticeable in recent weeks as daily concurrent player counts on Steam have dropped from a steady 350,000–400,000 range earlier in 2026 to around 150,000. The numbers remain impressive, especially when compared to competitors like Marathon, Escape From TarkovBattlefield 6, and Black Ops 7, but the decline has spotlighted the need for deeper long-term engagement.

Despite the drop-off, ARC Raiders remains one of 2025’s biggest success stories. The game earned Best Multiplayer at The Game Awards, earned strong critical and player reviews, and regularly peaked above 481,000 concurrent players on Steam. Embark has kept the game feeling fresh with monthly content updates, but the studio now recognizes that players who have reached the current “end” of the experience deserve more.

Braga emphasized that the team is actively thinking about how to challenge veteran players without alienating newer ones. "We want to challenge the players. Especially the players that are reaching the end of our content,” he said. "I want them to have more to do, and because they are at the end of it, it’s also important that we challenge them more and more. It is something we want to continue doing, but always giving players tools as well so that other players can partake of the fun.”

The comments mark the first time Embark has directly addressed endgame concerns. Previously, the studio’s public roadmaps focused on new maps, threats, weapons, and seasonal events rather than dedicated high-level activities. Fans have speculated for months about possible additions like Destiny 2-style raids featuring complex puzzles, multi-phase boss fights, and heavy teamwork requirements. Whether such features are already in development remains unclear.

The current 2026 roadmap only extends through April, leading many to expect a second roadmap announcement soon that could outline longer-term plans. Adding robust endgame systems would likely require significant time and resources, but the studio’s consistent monthly updates show a willingness to keep iterating quickly.

In the immediate term, players won’t have to wait long for new content. The major Flashpoint update arrives on March 31st for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. It introduces a new map condition, a fresh ARC threat, new player projects, and more. A recent teaser reveals that the deadly Shredder enemy previously limited to the Stella Montis map will expand to Blue Gate, making PvE encounters on that map significantly more dangerous and intense.

This kind of regular content drip has helped maintain engagement so far, but Braga’s comments suggest Embark understands that sustained growth depends on giving dedicated players compelling reasons to keep coming back after hundreds of hours.

ARC Raiders continues to stand out in a crowded shooter landscape thanks to its slick movement, tense extraction gameplay, and strong PvE focus. If the studio can successfully deliver deeper endgame systems while preserving the fun for all skill levels, it could solidify the game’s place as a long-term live-service success. For now, players can look forward to the Flashpoint update at the end of the month while hoping that more substantial endgame additions are already on the drawing board.
