Exoprimal appears to be on its last legs. The multiplayer third-person shooter from Capcom, released last July, was billed as a live-service game will plans for regular post-launch content updates. But after just a year of updates, it seems that Capcom is pulling the plug on new content.

Capcom isn't completely shutting down the game though as players will still be able to purchase and enjoy previous seasonal content.

"After Season 4, which concludes on July 11th, Season 1 will return. From there, a new season will begin on the first of each month," Capcom announced. "In addition, Season Passes 1-3 will be available for sale again. This will allow players to obtain items from all seasons."

All online services will continue to be available, the company noted. Looking at the calendar through the end of the year, July will see the return of Season 1 content, with Season 2 returning in August, Season 3 in September, and Season 4 in October. In November, it will reset again and Season 1 content will return, and so on for the foreseeable future.

"All gameplay modes will remain available to play. This includes the main Dino Survival mode, as well as endgame content such as Savage Gauntlet and Time Loop Rebellion," Capcom assured. "If you're playing alone or match with only a few other players, Bots (AI-controlled Exofighters) will still be added so that you can fully enjoy the Hammerheads' story and reach the ending."

Of course, the big question now is for how long. Is it worth spending money on seasonal content knowing that the game is seemingly on its deathbed?

Exoprimal was released in July 2023 for Xbox Series X|S, PS5, Xbox One, PS4, and PC. It was also offered for free through Xbox Game Pass. Capcom announced that the game attracted one million players in its first two months, which would seemingly suggest it was a successful launch. Perhaps the seasonal content was drawing enough interest (or revenue) to warrant continued release.

In any case, Exoprimal will remain readily available and playable in its current state. The game received mixed ratings upon release, sitting at around 67/100 on Metacritic.

"Exoprimal is an online, team-based action game that pits humanity's cutting-edge exosuit technology against history's most ferocious beasts – dinosaurs," the description reads.
