We've seen some pretty impressive cinematic trailers for Overkill Software's
The Walking Dead game, but the developer has still yet to release actual gameplay footage. That will finally change next week as the official
Walking Dead account from Skybound Entertainment announced we will be getting our first gameplay trailer at E3 2018.
If the gameplay is anywhere near as impressive as the cinematic trailers we've seen thus far, we're in for quite a treat. And judging by the reactions from fans in the teaser video, it sounds promising.
Not only are we getting a gameplay trailer next week, but those attending E3
will actually get to go hands-on with the game as well. According to Overkill, it will be located at booth 5200 in the west hall.
Overkill's The Walking Dead is being billed as a four-player co-op action FPS where you must work together to fight the dead as well as the living. Based on that teaser, it appears teamwork will be paramount. And the game seems to be designed with that in mind, as each character has their own play styles, special abilities, skill trees and squad roles. As we saw in each of the individual character reveal trailers, they each have their own unique story arcs as well.
To date, three of the four playable characters have been revealed:
Aidan, the bat-wielding melee character;
Maya, the former surgeon; and
Grant, the long-range expert wielding a sniper rifle. There's still one character left to be revealed ahead of the game's release in fall 2018 so it's possible that he/she will be shown to us at E3 as well.
Overkill's The Walking Dead will release later this year on PS4, Xbox One and PC. Hopefully, we also get a release date at E3.
