Earlier today, Rockstar Games released the third trailer for
Red Dead Redemption 2 and unveiled some details about the upcoming western. One of them is the fact that the The Van der Linde gang that played a pivotal role in
Red Dead Redemption's main storyline will officially return in the sequel and gamers will play as gangster Arthur Morgan, a member of Dutch's gang who's facing moral dilemmas.
In the pre-Order section for
Red Dead Redemption 2, the box arts for the game have been revealed for Xbox One and PlayStation 4, and it looks like the game definitely shares some similarities with the second (for some reason everybody tries to pretend that
Red Dead Revolver didn't happen) game. You can probably immediately recognize the similar color palette, theme and overall art style.
Both John Marston and Arthur Morgan have a way of dismissively pointing their guns down at a poor consumer. Arthur Morgan, the sequel's protagonist also looks kinda saintly with that big, orange sun behind him. It's evocative of a halo from Christian iconography, which is weird considering that Arthur definitely seems like "a bad guy", but maybe he's just on the path of Paul the Apostle...
America, 1899. The end of the wild west era has begun as lawmen hunt down the last remaining outlaw gangs. Those who will not surrender or succumb are killed. After a robbery goes badly wrong in the western town of Blackwater, Arthur Morgan and the Van der Linde gang are forced to flee. With federal agents and the best bounty hunters in the nation massing on their heels, the gang must rob, steal and fight their way across the rugged heartland of America in order to survive. As deepening internal divisions threaten to tear the gang apart, Arthur must make a choice between his own ideals and loyalty to the gang who raised him.
Red Dead Redemption 2 will be available on October 26, 2018 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
