The Sinking City has been officially pushed back to June 27th, which means that the Lovecraftian horror won't hit stores on March 21st, as originally planned. Developer Frogwares announced this information in the video that you can watch down below. In
City, you will play as a detective who's trying to solve the mystery of endless floods that have been driving the citizens of Oakmont Massachusetts crazy.
"
We decided we wanted to release our game in a less crowded timeframe," Frogwares Community Manager Sergey Oganesyan explained in the video. "
With so many great games coming out around the same time, I’m sure this will also give you some breathing space for your playing time."
Considering that
Tom Clancy's The Division 2, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, Generation Zero, and
Assassin's Creed III - Remastered will be released in the coming days, the Ukrainian studio's decision is more than just justified, as launching right before the unofficial beginning of this year's “slow season” will definitely help the game when it comes to the sheer amount of
The Sinking City-related articles.
While the delay is unfortunate, the fact that the game looks really good gives hope that the final, polished product will be as good as, or ever better than, last year's
Call of Cthulhu (which was initially made at Frogwares). IGN has released a brand new
TSC gameplay video featuring nearly 4 minutes of never-before-seen footage that you can freely check out down below alongside Oganesyan's message:
The Sinking City is a game of investigation and mystery taking place in a fictional open world inspired by the works of H.P. Lovecraft. The player steps into the shoes of a 1920s private investigator who finds himself in the city of Oakmont Massachusetts, New England. A city suffering from unprecedented floods of clearly supernatural origins, a city trembling on the brink of madness.
The Sinking City is coming to PlayStation 4, Microsoft Windows, and Xbox One on June 27, 2019.
