THQ Nordic has released a new trailer for Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed, an enhanced remake of the 2010 classic. The magical adventure begins this September!

At THQ Nordic's Digital Showcase, the publisher showed off an all-new trailer for Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed. A faithful remake of the beloved classic adventure, Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed invites players on a magical adventure into a fantastical world.

In this classic action-adventure game, Mickey Mouse, armed with a magical paintbrush, travels to the dangerous Wasteland, now reimagined for modern consoles. Armed with a magical paintbrush, Mickey can use paint to restore harmony or thinner to uncover secrets. "Shape your own adventure and change the fate of Wasteland in this reimagination of this beloved classic," THQ teases.

The new trailer showcases some of the reimagined and improved gameplay featured in Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed.

The enhanced remake is being developed by Purple Lamp in collaboration with Disney Games. The team was assisted in the remaster by Warren Spector, the director of the original Disney Epic Mickey.

“I’ve received more heartfelt fan mail from players of all ages about Disney Epic Mickey than any other project I’ve worked on – a true indicator of the timelessness of this game,” said Warren Spector back when Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed was first announced. “That my team and I contributed to that legacy is truly an honor and I’m delighted that old fans and new will get to enjoy the adventures of Mickey and Oswald in Wasteland once again.”

The original Disney Epic Mickey was released in 2010 for the Nintendo Wii. Developed by Spector's Junction Point Studios and published by Disney Interactive Studios, the game follows Mickey Mouse, who accidentally damages a world created by Yen Sid for forgotten characters and concepts, and must save it from the Blot. The game was part of an effort by Disney to rebrand Mickey Mouse and show off more of his mischievous and adventurous sides of his personality.

The game marked the first time that Mickey Mouse and Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, a character created by Walt Disney and Ub Iwerks who was originally owned by Universal Pictures. However, The Walt Disney Company gained ownership of the character in 2006 when it traded the contract of sportscaster Al Michaels to NBC for the rights to the character.

The original Disney Epic Mickey received average reviews upon its release. Many praised the game's charm, story, and overall art design while criticizing the camera, control issues, and lack of voice acting.

Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed will be released on September 24, 2024, for Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The game is available for $59.99, and anyone who pre-orders will get the Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed - Costume Pack which includes Steam Boat Willie, Football, and Brave Little Tailor for free along with 24-hour early access of the full game on September 23rd.

There's also the Collector's Edition for $199.99 which includes a stunning 28 cm Mickey Mouse Statue, an Oswald the Lucky Rabbit Keychain, a Vintage Mickey Mouse Tin SIgn, and more.
