Dead or Alive 6, the long-delayed sixth entry in the critically acclaimed fighting game series, is finally available now for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC (via Steam). Team Ninja's latest title was originally supposed to release on February 15th, but Koei Tecmo ultimately delayed the project to allow the Japanese producer further polish
DOA6's core gameplay mechanics and add some brand new content.
According to the first wave of reviews, Team Ninja used that extra time well, but
Dead or Alive 6 still suffers from major shortcomings, including the online multiplayer mode lacking important options and suffering from frequent lag spikes, not to mention the absence of
Tag Battle. Still,
DOA6 is currently sitting on a perfectly fine 79% score on Metacritic (for PS4 with only 13 reviews counted thus far).
Considering that Team Ninja has been recently co-developing three major projects simultaneously (
DOA6, NiOh 2, and
Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order), we wonder if the decision to work on all those big-budget games at the same time was a wise move. Regardless of this speculation, be sure to take a closer look at
Dead or Alive 6 in its action-packed gameplay launch trailer down below:
The Dead or Alive franchise is a AAA fighting game series produced by Koei Tecmo Games' Team NINJA. Composed of fast-paced 3D fighting games that began with the original Dead or Alive in 1996, Dead or Alive 6 will be the sixth entry in the series.
