Warner Bros. Games has announced that Samurai Jack and Beetlejuice will be joining the roster of its crossover platform fighting game MultiVersus. Both characters will arrive during the game's second season which launches on July 23.

Samurai Jack, from the hit animated action-adventure dystopian television series created by Genndy Tartakovsky, will be available at the launch of the new season. Beetlejuice (a.k.a. Betelgeuse) will arrive later in the season, in advance of Warner Bros. Pictures. upcoming film Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, the sequel to the beloved 1988 film Beetlejuice.

"After being flung into the future by the evil demon Aku, the warrior known as Samurai Jack embarked on a relentless quest to return to the past. With his unmatched swordsmanship and incredible agility, he’s truly a force to be reckoned with," Samurai Jack's description reads.

Warner Bros. also shared a new gameplay trailer for Samurai Jack, who enters the fighting arena as a Bruiser class character. The video shows off Samurai Jack's agile footwork and quick reflexes as he utilizes his mystical katana blade to send opponents flying off the map. We also get a glimpse of his Righteous Warrior Jack character variant.

Unfortunately, we didn't get to see what Beetlejuice will look like in the game just yet. Seeing as how the character's release is being tied to the movie, it's likely that the version we will be getting is the one played by Michael Keaton. Of course, older fans might remember the animated television series that ran from 1989 to 1991, which could make for an awesome variant.

Samurai Jack will be available for in-game purchase on July 23rd. Beetlejuice will arrive later in the season ahead of the sequel film's theatrical release on September 6 in North America (September 4 internationally). A late August or early September (perhaps September 3rd?) release is most likely.

In addition to these new characters, Season 2 will see the arrival of ranked Mode. This will give players a chance to participate in 1v1 or 2v2 matches while competing for leaderboard points to earn exclusive rank-based cosmetic rewards.

Also arriving with Season 2 is the new Water Tower map, where players can battle on top of the iconic Warner Bros. Water Tower. The map also contains surprise nods to popular Warner Bros. Discovery characters and franchises.

Available for PlayStation, Xbox, and PC, MultiVersus is a free-to-play crossover platform fighter featuring an ever-expanding roster of popular characters based on Warner Bros. Discovery franchises. The current roster of characters include Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Harley Quinn, Black Adam, and The Joker (DC); Shaggy and Velma (Scooby-Doo); Bugs Bunny, Tasmanian Devil a.k.a. Taz, and Marvin the Martian (Looney Tunes); Arya Stark (Game of Thrones); Tom & Jerry (Tom and Jerry); Finn the Human, Jake the Dog, and Banana Guard (Adventure Time); Steven Universe and Garnet (Steven Universe); Iron Giant (The Iron Giant), LeBron James (Space Jam: A New Legacy); Rick Sanchez and Morty Smith (Rick and Morty); Gizmo and Stripe (Gremlins); Jason Voorhees (Friday the 13th); Agent Smith (The Matrix); Samurai Jack (Samurai Jack); Beetlejuice (Beetlejuice); and an extraordinary original creature named Reindog.
