Created by the talented team at Ubisoft Paris, the developer responsible for
Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Future Solider and
Wildlands, and published by Ubisoft back in 2003,
XIII received generally positive feedback upon release, but ultimately failed to live up to the French studio's high sales expectations.
16 years later, Microids announces that the classic FPS, based on Jean Van Hamme and William Vance's comic book, will return reimagined for the PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC in November, giving fans of the original and those who have never played the title before a chance to embark on a journey as a soldier who lost his memory and has been accused of killing the President of the US.
While Ubisoft has seemingly given up on the promising franchise, Microids is still planning to introduce it to a "
new generation of players with the best possible graphics and animation. The result will be nothing short of spectacular as we promise to celebrate the amazing work done on the original game," Head of Production at Microids François Coulon explained on the official PlayStation Blog.
Developed at the Malta-based PlayMagic, the 30 people-strong team that "
has designed and worked on top selling console and PC franchises such as Halo, Call of Duty, Crysis, Hunt Showdown," and many more,
XIII will once again feature a 34-level campaign, this time offering players an opportunity to face a deadly gang of 20 conspirators with updated visuals and reinvisioned gameplay mechanics.
