After years of working on smaller projects, the development team at 3D Realms is finally ready to reveal new details on
WRATH: Aeon of Ruin, their spiritual successor to
Duke Nukem 3D and
DOOM.
In
Aeon of Ruin, you play as the Outlander who finds himself on the shores of a dying world, equipped with his reliable gun and ready to battle the horrors that lurk within and hunt down the remaining Guardians of the Old World, all in the name of the quite mysterious Shepherd of Wayward Souls.
At its core,
WRATH is an old-school first-person shooter powered by the
Quake tech, and while the title may not be the most beautiful video game you've ever seen, it will allow you to use 9 deadly weapons, each with multiple fire modes, and traverse 3 hubs and 15 interconnected levels crawling with hordes of enemies and some ancient secrets. Quite interestingly,
WRATH will be capped at 666 FPS.
1C Entertainment has released over 20 minutes of all-new gameplay footage from
WRATH that debuted during this year’s PAX East, giving us our first good look at the hardcore shooter. Check it out:
You are Outlander. Once adrift upon the Ageless Sea, you now find yourself on the shores of a dying world. From the consuming darkness emerges a figure cloaked in white, the Shepherd of Wayward Souls, who burdens you with the task of hunting down the remaining Guardians of the Old World. You must journey into the vast gloom to explore ancient ruins, discover forgotten secrets and battle the horrors that lurk within.
WRATH: Aeon of Ruin will launch for PC, Mac, and Linux this summer, followed by PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch in early 2020.
