New Evidence Suggests Infinity Ward's CALL OF DUTY 2019 Will Have A Single-Player Campaign
It seems that Black Ops IV is just an accident at work and next year's Call of Duty will feature a single-player campaign, as Infinity Ward is currently looking for a "Narrative Scripter..."
As we know it, this year's Call of Duty, Black Ops IV won't feature a single-player mode, but it was clear long before Activision's official announcement of this decision, as Charlie Intel had leaked this information back in April. The rest of their "intel" also turned out to be true, including the addition of Raven Software's Battle Royale mode that's being added to fill BLOPSIV's content gap of no campaign.
In May, Charlie reported that after the troubled release of Infinite Warfare, Infinity Ward decided to return to the Modern Warfare formula and it's not the only return, as several original Infinity Ward developers, who were part of the original team since the earliest days of the studio and left for Respawn (Titanfall) after what happened during the 2010 debacle between Infinity Ward and Activision, have returned to Infinity Ward recently to work once again on the Call of Duty series.
The source also confirmed that Modern Warfare 4 will feature a proper single-player campaign, alongside the new customary Call of Duty multiplayer experience, and the inclusion of the zombies.
Charlie Intel returns with a new scoop, as a job listing for a "Narrative Scripter" has appeared on Infinity Ward’s job page, suggesting that Call of Duty 2019 will in fact have a campaign mode. The job listing overview says: "Come work with the game industry’s brightest on a new, exciting, unannounced title for multiple next gen platforms. In this hands-on role, you’ll collaborate with scripters, sound designers, writers, and directors to implement voice-over performances in-game across a wide variety of player experiences – from combat to set-pieces."
This apparent return of the Modern Warfare series would mean that the hypothetical fourth game would be the first Infinity Ward's sequel since the release of Call of Duty: Ghosts and Infinite Warfare, which were some of the worst received games in the controversial franchise. Ward's last sequel, Modern Warfare 3 was released back in 2011 as the biggest entertainment launch of that year.
