We're on the verge of the next installment in the long-running Call of Duty first-person shooter series being revealed. Many even believe that the Call of Duty 2020 will be revealed during Sony's PlayStation 5 reveal event which takes place tomorrow.
Rumor has it the next installment is called "Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War," and it serves somewhat as a reboot of the subseries of the same name just as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare did. Not too long ago, developmental footage of Call of Duty 2020 in action surfaced online — more on that here — and reputable sources have been slowly feeding us other information.
Well, now there's even more big news in the world of Call of Duty pertaining to the next installment as the internal alpha for the game has leaked online (via Charlie INTEL), and dataminers have seemingly been able to uncover a whole heap of information about the upcoming game.
The internal developer alpha for Call of Duty 2020 is called "The Red Door," it's 71GB," and supports the PlayStation 4 Pro. It seems that the code name for Call of Duty 2020 is simply: "COD2020INTALPHA." Most interestingly, dataminers have been able to uncover references to a campaign mode, a multiplayer mode, a zombies mode, and a battle royale mode.
Additionally, they've been able to uncover images. One of these images blatantly seems to confirm that the upcoming installment will be called Call of Duty: Black Ops — which lines up with the aforementioned, rumored title. We're not going to share the images here, but you can find them over on Imgur as well as elsewhere on the web.
Regardless, we're sure to find out about the legitimacy of all this sometime soon.
