It was already looking like winter in Fortnite's Battle Royale mode, but now today's update really brings the festive cheer. It comes in the form of a new limited-time seasonal event called 14 Days of Fortnite.

The new holiday-themed event starts Wednesday, December 19, and will feature both new and returning LTMs along with special Challenges with seasonal rewards. With the event also comes the Snowball Launcher and a holiday-lit Legendary Bush.

In addition to the holiday event, today's update introduces balance tweaks to weapons and items, gameplay fixes, and more. Most notably, the effectiveness of the Heavy Assault Rifle has been reduced while not aiming down sights. In terms of gameplay, ground vehicles will now slide on icy surfaces, Stormwings will now take 50 percent more damage from hitting objects, and damage done to players who are in the Stormwing when it is shot down has been increased by 25.

For Creative Mode, four new WInter themed islands have been added plus six new Winter Village Prefabs. Players now also have two total "The Block" islands instead of one. For Save the World, the new Frostnite experience is live.

Today's update only applies to Battle Royale as Save the World has been disabled while Epic investigates issues with Stormshield Storage and Frostnite mode. Also, the release of the first Block content has been delayed and will go live at a later date, but you can still visit the island.

Check out the full patch notes over on Epic's website.
