Blizzard Entertainment's Overwatch Twitter page released his Origin story today with a tweet, officially introducing the new character as 'Wrecking Ball':
Yes, Overwatch's next character is another talking animal, but certainly much smaller in stature to the one currently on the game's champion roster. Hammond, a mischevious and curious little hamster, seems to climb against all odds to stardom competing in a giant mechanized suit in the gladiator pits known as the Scrapyard. This is where he lovingly gained his nickname, "Wrecking Ball."
His are abilities are as followed (
via Overwatch Wiki):
-
Quad Cannons - Basic attack, 80 ammo, fires 25 shots per second, 5 damage per shot (similar to D.Va's attack, but more accurate).
-
Roll - Switches Wrecking Ball into a Sonic-like ball. Can jump in this form. Swaps between shooting stance, and ball form.
-
Grappling Claw - While in the 'Roll' form, Wrecking Ball can gain momentum by swinging after attaching with this Claw. Can't attach to heroes.
-
Piledriver - Slams Wrecking Ball into the ground, dealing damage and can pop enemies off the ground.
-
Adaptive Shield - Additional shield that increases in amount based on how many enemies are around Wrecking Ball.
-
Minefield (Ultimate) - Releases a wide field of proximity mines.
Wrecking Ball is the next 'Tank'-class champion to be introduced in Overwatch. He will be the 28th total champion added to the game since its release back in May 2016. Overwatch is available on PC, Xbox One, and Playstation 4.
