A new rumor has emerged regarding the next instalment in the Call of Duty franchise - which this source claims will be the fourth instalment in the Modern Warfare series.

Modern Warfare 4 has been had an underlying presence within the Call of Duty franchise, since its predecessor debuted back in 2011, but rumours have begun to pop-up yet again as Infinity Ward will be taking the reins of Call of Duty later this year.

Infinity Ward released a remastered version of the first Modern Warfare instalment alongside Infinite Warfare back in 2016; this new rumour (via @Chaosxsilencer) claims that the upcoming instalment will feature a remaster of Modern Warfare 2's campaign rather than inventing a wholly new one.

And what's more, it apparently won't feature the iconic yet controversial "No Russian" mission in which terrorists invade an airport. The source also claims that there's a chance the Modern Warfare 3's campaign will be remastered at a later date and that this will be the final instalment in the Modern Warfare series.

The source also claims that, after the "Blackout" battle-royale mode of Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 proved to be a success, Infinity Ward will be creating their own. The map will reportedly be of a similar size to Blackout only with almost half of it covered in snow. A snowmobile vehicle will be present to traverse this environment.

Craig Fairbrass, who voiced the character of Ghost in Modern Warfare 2, will apparently play characters amid the battle-royale and act as the announcer of multiplayer. Speaking of the multiplayer; like Black Ops 4, the upcoming instalment's multiplayer will apprently feature specialists and a pick-ten class customisation system.

On top of all this, the source also claims that there will be a Zombies mode - which would be a first for this particular Call of Duty series.

What do you think of this supposed leak? Would you like to see any of the above ideas come to fruition?
