The last time RAGE 2 was the center of an interview, Tim Willits, director of id Software, was questioned about the possibility of the title coming to Switch. On that occasion, the director assured that the possibility is being evaluated and recently Pete Hines left it in the air.
In an interview conducted by DualShockers in the framework of Gamescom 2018, Pete Hines, vice president of marketing and communications at Bethesda, spoke about the possibility of RAGE 2 coming to the Switch
“We’ve talked about it, but it’s a completely different engine and tech. The nice thing about Doom, Wolf, and Doom Eternal is it all uses id Tech, Rage 2 uses Avalanche‘s engine, so it’s a different beast in terms of a seamless open world that you can play like that. We’ve talked about it some. Still uncertain whether that could ever work on the Switch.”
According to the manager, despite Bethesda being one of the companies that has given Switch the greatest support with the launch of titles such as DOOM, Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus, Skyrim and soon DOOM Eternal, the situation of RAGE 2 differs from the previous titles.
“We want as many people to be able to play our games as possible. A lot of time and a lot of effort go into making these games. So if bringing it to another platform allows more people to play it, great. So far the reception has been good, people really like the games, so we’re gonna keep doing it.”
Dive headfirst into a dystopian world devoid of society, law, and order. RAGE 2 brings together two studio powerhouses – Avalanche Studios, masters of open world insanity, and id Software, creators of the first-person shooter – to deliver a carnival of carnage where you can go anywhere, shoot anything, and explode everything.
RAGE 2 will release on June 2019 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
