Minecraft originally launched all the way back in 2009. It has been over a decade since then and the immensely popular sandbox game has been without one crucial feature for all that time.
With the most recent update to the Java edition of Minecraft (that's Minecraft on PC and not Bedrock edition); Mojang Studios has finally added a way for players to mute specific players in multiplayer.
The latest pre-release update to Minecraft Java introduced a feature called the "Social Interactions Screen." To bring up this menu, you simply have to press the "P" button on your keyboard — though it can be remapped in the options menu. The menu displays a list of every player in the realm. You can then select a certain player whose messages you would prefer not see.
Minecraft producer Adrian Östergård detailed the new quality-of-life change in the official patch notes — which you can check out for yourself by clicking here.
If you’ve been on the Internet for some time, you’ve probably noticed that you occasionally run into other players that you don’t get along with. To alleviate some of that frustration, we’re introducing a UI element called the ‘social interactions screen’, which will let you disable chatting with certain players, thus hiding any messages you receive from them. Additionally, the 1.16.4 update will contain some fixes for critical bugs, but other than that, this will be it for this dot-release.
