Koji "IGA" Igarashi, who has been involved with the
Castlevania series since the brilliant
Castlevania: Symphony of the Night(1997) for the PlayStation, has recently revealed that a spiritual successor to the original NES
Castlevania is currently in the later stages of development and almost ready to see the light of day.
Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon is a game that was part of the
Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night Kickstarter campaign. As one of the stretch goals of the Kickstarter campaign, there was the promise of an 8-bit game for Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night. While many thought that it would be an 8-bit version of that game, it has now been revealed that it is a completely different game more akin to the original Castlevania on the NES than
Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, which is the game
Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is inspired by. The game will be available for the
Nintendo Switch, Nintendo 3DS, PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, Xbox One, and Steam on the 24th of May.
Developed by Inti Creates,
Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon brings back all of the classic elements that were present in
Castlevania. With colourful backgrounds, great level design, epic boss fights, and beautiful retro aesthetic,
Curse of the Moon adds some new elements like 4 playable characters that players can switch through to find new paths, and maybe even affect the game's ending.
Backers for
Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night will receive a code for
Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon via the official homepage, or through a Kickstarter update. For people that have not participated on the Kickstarter campaign, the game will cost $9.99 USD and will be available on either of the platforms' online stores.
