Developed and published by independent developer Drinkbox Studios,
Guacamelee! 2 is the sequel to the critically praised
Guacamelee!; a Metroidvania game that is inspired by traditional Mexican culture and folklore.
Guacamelee! 2 was released for the PlayStation 4 and Microsoft Windows this past August, with the developer also promising a Nintendo Switch and Xbox One release. The Nintendo Switch already got the
Guacamelee! Super Turbo Championship Edition—an enhanced version of the original
Guacamelee! released in 2013—in order to get players familiarised with the series.
Pre-Orders for
Guacamelee! 2 on the Nintendo Switch began at the end of November, and players who already owned the
Super Turbo Championship Edition(a name that pokes fun at the hilariously long names in the
Street Fighter series by Capcom) would even get a 30% off discount.
Today,
Guacamelee! 2 has finally released on the Nintendo Switch, which players can now download from the Nintendo eShop, and Drinkbox Studios has released a new trailer showing off some of the gameplay players should expect to find in the long-awaited sequel to the critically praised
Guacamelee!.
Take a look:
Seven years after defeating Carlos Calaca, Juan Aguacate is forced to don his luchador mask again to face a new threat -- this time to the very fabric of space and time.
Guacamelee! 2 is available for the Nintendo Switch today.
