Yooka-Laylee is an adventure collectathon game with platforming elements developed by Playtonic and published by Team 17, released for the PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and Steam in 2017.
The game is a spiritual successor to Rare's
Banjo-Kazooie video game series released on the Nintendo 64 back in 1998—bringing back all of the elements that made the
Banjo-Kazooie series a classic. Playtonic is actually a developing team that is comprised of former Rare veterans who had previously worked on the
Banjo-Kazooie games.
Today, Playtonic has revealed that they are giving their full blessing to DreamPrism Press to begin working on a
Yooka-Laylee graphic novel—which will be a 120-pages long book. According to IGN, DreamPrism Press will be launching a Kickstarter campaign to fund the book, which will begin on the
17th of October.
This Kickstarter campaign is hoping to raise $40,000 USD in order for DreamPrism Press to fully fund the 120-page Yooka-Laylee book¯that will follow the adventures of Yooka and Laylee after the events of the game.
Explore huge, beautiful worlds, meet (and beat) an unforgettable cast of characters and horde a vault-load of shiny collectibles as buddy-duo Yooka (the green one) and Laylee (the wisecracking bat with the big nose) embark on an epic adventure to thwart corporate creep Capital B and his devious scheme to absorb all the world’s books… and convert them into pure profit!
Yooka-Laylee is available for the PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and Steam.
