Prime Video's new Fallout TV series debuted this week and in celebration of the show's premiere, Prime Gaming is adding two Fallout games on Amazon Luna for free.

For the next six months,  Fallout 3: Game of the Year Edition and Fallout: New Vegas will be playable for Prime members in the United States, Canada, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, and the United Kingdom as part of their Amazon Luna membership.

Both Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas are considered to be some of the best games in the Fallout video game franchise. While not imperative to understanding the plot of the series, they could be great companion games to enjoy during or after you binge the new television series.

Released in 2008, Fallout 3 was developed by Bethesda who transformed the series from a 2D RPG into more of a 3D open-world RPG-action experience. Much of what made Fallout so special remained in place, but Bethesda added this own twist on the franchise by introducing the popular VATS targeting system. Fallout 3 is set in the post-apocalyptic ruins of Washington D.C. and the countryside of Maryland and Virginia — collectively known as the Capital Wasteland.

Fallout 3: Game of the Year Edition includes the full base game along with all five game add-on packs: Operation Anchorage; The Pitt; Broken Steel; Point Lookout; and Mothership Zeta.

Fallout: New Vegas is not only considered to be the best game in the Fallout franchise but also one of the best role-playing games of all time. Developed by Obsidian Entertainment (former Black Isle employees, the studio that worked on Fallout 2), Fallout: New Vegas takes us the post-apocalyptic region of Arizona, California, and Nevada.

The game is actually set in a world that deviated onto an alternate timeline thanks to the Atomic Age technology, which eventually led to a global nuclear apocalypse in the year 2077 in an event referred to as "The Great War." New Vegas is set in 2281, four years after the events of Fallout 3 and 204 years after the bombs fell.

Players assume the role of a Courier who is ambushed while transporting a package across the Mojave Desert to the city of New Vegas. Robbed, shot, and left to die, the Courier is rescued by inhabitants of a small nearby town. While on a journey to find the would-be kill and recover the package, the Courier gets caught up in a larger conflict with factions warring over control of New Vegas and the Mojave Wasteland.

In addition to Fallout 3: Game of the Year Edition and Fallout: New Vegas coming to Amazon Luna, Prime Gaming has also made Fallout 76 free to Prime Members during the month of April on both PC and Xbox. While Fallout 76 wasn't met with the same acclaim as Fallout 3 or New Vegas, Bethesda has released numerous post-launch updates that have drastically improved the overall game since its initial launch.

The Fallout TV series isn't necessarily based on any specific story in the video game franchise, but is more so inspired by the concept and tone of the games. The series premiered on Prime Video on Wednesday, April 10th. All eight episodes in the first season are now available to stream.
