Easy Day Studios' Skater XL is coming at just the right time for fans of skateboarding games; fans who had been impatiously waiting for Electronic Arts and Activision to bring back the populr Skate and Tony Hawk's Pro Skater series, respectively.
While we now have an official announcement that Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 + 2 is releasing this year in September, fans will now have even more options to sit back, unwind, and play some skateboarding video games like it's 1999; after all this time without any skateboarding games, this is a godsand any way we look at it.
For those of you unaware, Skater XL has actually been in its Early Access stage on Steam for quite a while now, but the developers at Easy Day Studios have revealed that the game will finally become available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Steam on the 28th of July.
A Nintendo Switch version of the game was also announced in April of this year, although the developers have mentioned that this specific version will be releasing at a later date; reassuring players that it will become available rather sooner than later.
Today Easy Day Studios has revealed that a brand-new map will be added to Skater XL 1.0 on launch day, and it comes in the form of a massive "skate park" named Easy Day High School.
What's even more interesting about this new map is that it has been designed from scratch by the developers, but some of the locations that players will find in Easy Day High School are actually heavily inspired by real-world locations seen in mainstream skate videos and magazines.
Some of these areas include San Francisco's Wallenberg Four, Clipper Ledge, Los Angeles' Lockwood Elementary, and more — which skateboarding fans will be able to immediately recognise.
