In a recent interview with VGC(Video Games Chronicle), head of PlatinumGames Atsushi Inaba revealed that he hasn't ruled out the possibility of
Astral Chain — their most recent Nintendo Switch exclusive title — making its way into other platforms, although players shouldn't get too excited just yet.
According to Inaba, they are actually open to the idea of porting
Astral Chain to other platforms — in the same vein of the
recently announced The Wonderful 101: Remastered, which was a Nintendo Wii U exclusive — but it isn't 100% up to them, since Nintendo also owns the game.
"
In the case of Astral Chain," explains Inaba, "
it's an IP that’s owned half by Platinum and half by Nintendo. So right now it just came out and it's too early to say. For the time being we’re just hoping that it’s a success for the Nintendo Switch and we’ll see how it goes from there."
Astral Chain has recently joined the 1 million-seller club, and it has been doing pretty well since its original launch in August of last year; with quite a handful of media outlets praising the game and giving it near-perfect scores.
The Wonderful 101: Remastered is proof that Nintendo-exclusive titles can eventually be released on other platforms but, like Inaba says, it may not happen any time soon; it's too early to say.
Astral Chain is a new action game from PlatinumGames, the creators of the Bayonetta™ series. As part of a police special forces unit in a multi-cultural futuristic city, players work together with a humanoid special weapon, Legion, in a synergetic action system of battle and exploration.
Astral Chain is currently available exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
