Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker is a game that was originally released for the Wii U. The game features some very clever puzzles, some decent exploration, some serviceable co-op, and some very fun gameplay overall—all of that almost completely overlooked because of the Wii U's poor marketing as a console.
Joining the ranks of
Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze,
Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker is one of the few Wii U titles to have been lucky enough to get a Nintendo Switch port—finally getting the attention it deserved. Not only that but Treasure Tracker also got a Nintendo 3DS port, making it the second game to be ported to the 3DS and the Nintendo Switch, right after
Hyrule Warriors.
Like it's usually expected from Nintendo first party titles,
Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker got some great reviews when it launched on the Wii U, and now it's getting the same great reviews thanks to the game remaining almost unchanged, and because it added some extra content to keep things somewhat fresh. Today, Nintendo has released a new accolades trailer showing off some of those great scores that praise the game's level design, fun factor, and its portability, amongst other things.
