During the special Super Mario 35th Anniversary presentation hosted early in September, Nintendo revealed Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit, which is a brand-new augmented reality Mario Kart title that allows players to create their own race tracks at home, and race through them using a Mario Kart-themed RC car.
Not much about Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit was actually revealed at the time of the announcement, but we do know that the game is expected to launch on Friday the 16th of October, which is in approximately two weeks from today, and that it will retaile for £100 or $130 USD.
Today Nintendo has shared a much-needed overview trailer for Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit, which reveals that this game is basically another Mario Kart title through and through that features races against the Koopalings, themed courses, engine class from 50cc up to 200cc like in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, as well as Mirror Mode, and fully customisable race tracks.
Initially, it was thought that only two players would be able to play the game in Versus Mode, but today's trailer reveals that versus can be played with up to four players, although each will need to own a Mario or Luigi RC car in order to join the race, as well as their own Nintendo Switch system.
Nintendo also released a video interview with the developers at Velan Studios, who reveal that they made sure that controlling the Mario or Luigi RC cars feels exactly like a Mario Kart game should feel, and how they actually managed to make this possible with the technology they had at their disposal.
Unsurprisingly, the developers at Velan Studios reval that it was of paramount importance to make item boxes and their respective items affect the RC cars in ways that the player can actually feel the effect; from Chain Chomps that pull the player's RC car in surprising ways, to Bullet Bills that drive the RC cars by themselves for a short period of time.
