New Super Mario Bros. U was originally released in 2012 as a launch title for the Nintendo Wii U: one of Nintendo's biggest flops in recent years. While the game was not bad by any stretch of the word, not that many people actually got to play it due to the console's poor sales; making it the perfect game to be ported to the Nintendo Switch.
Getting a similar treatment than the one
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe got when it was ported to the Switch,
New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe has a few things that make it a better deal for players who missed out on this fantastic game — while also adding a few extras for players who already played the original game.
Now that
New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe has become available today, Nintendo has released a brand-new trailer showcasing some of the new features that this Deluxe edition of the original Wii U title has to offer. For starters, the game is now including New Super Luigi U, which is a far more challenging version of the original game with redesigned levels.
While
New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe keeps its couch co-op multiplayer features intact, the game is also adding Nabbit and Toadette as playable characters — with Nabbit serving as the game's easy mode since he's virtually invincible to enemies(although bottomless pits could still be an issue) — adding some much welcomed variety.
