In a new interview with a Japanese newspaper (via Gadgets 360), Nintendo President Tatsumi Kimishima reiterated plans for Super Mario Run to be released on Android devices next year. That follows the news that the title has hit 40 million downloads in just four days of release an Apple's range of gadgets, and everyone who doesn't own an iPhone or iPad are anxiously awaiting its debut.

However, here's where things get really interesting. Apparently, after releasing two or three additional smartphone games in 2017, Nintendo is considering even more than that somewhere down the line. What those will be remains to be seen, but given the success of Pokemon Go and Super Mario Run, expect Nintendo to put the spotlight on some of their most beloved and recognisable franchises.

Which of their franchises would you like to see brought to your smartphone? Let us know below.
