Dragalia Lost is a mobile game developed by Cygames and published by Nintendo
that was released on the 27th of September on iOS and Android devices.
While the Japanese developer, Cygames, is more popular in Japan for its games,
Dragalia Lost has been getting pretty favourable reviews worldwide, averaging a 4.8 out of 5 rating on iOS and a 3.4 on the Google Play store. Regardless of the rating's it's been getting, sales for this title have not been selling as well as other Nintendo-licensed titles like
Fire Emblem Heroes or
Super Mario Run.
This information comes from Sensor Tower's Store Intelligence, which affirms that within the first five days sine its release,
Dragalia Lost has only managed to sell an estimate of $3.5 Million in copies—being downloaded at least 800.000 across the United States, Japan, hong Kong, Taiwan, and Macau on both Apple Store and Google Play store.
Compared to other Nintendo-licensed titles,
Dragalia Lost is outgrossed by
Animal Crossing with a $4.6M,
Super Mario Run with an $8.3M, and
Fire Emblem Heroes with a $13.0M. It's worth mentioning that all of these numbers are in regards to these titles' sales within the first 5 days since release. The only exception here is
Super Mario Run, whose revenue only includes sales on iOS devices.
Whil;e Dragalia Lost trails way behind these other Nintendo-licensed titles, this is in no way a failure for either Nintendo or Cygames, especially given that
Dragalia Lost is a new Intellectual Property, and it being outsold by
Fire Emblem Heroes,
Super Mario Run, and
Animal Crossing—all of which enjoy brand recognition status—is something to be expected.
