Some new information regarding software sales has made its way online as NPD Group analyst Matt Piscatella reveals some very interesting facts that may point to Nintendo outselling its competition by the end of this year.
According to Piscatella, Nintendo is the best-selling publisher of the year, all of this is only in regards to software sales. This does not include, however, digital sales since Piscatella mentions that the NPD Group does not gave permission to give away that kind of information.
This isn't the only good news for The Big N, since Piscatella also predicts that in regards to hardware sales, the Nintendo Switch is a strong contender to be the best selling console of the year. Piscatella believes that it all comes down to how well Pokémon Let's Go Pikachu/Eevee! does in sales, and whether it manages to reach the market massively. Were this not the case, the best-selling-console title will go straight to Sony's PlayStation 4.
Both consoles have either released heavy-hitting titles this year, or will be releasing them soon. Such is the case of PlayStation 4 exclusives God of War and Marvel's Spider-Man, both having sold extremely well upon releasing. Nintendo, on the other hand, is still waiting on Pokémon Let's Go Pikachu/Eevee! as well as the long-awaited Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, so things can pretty much go either way for both companies. Regardless of the result, it's been a great year for gamers in general.
