According to Famitsu chart figures for the 22nd through the 28th of April, Nintendo has managed to sell an estimate of 42,108 Switch consoles; pushing its current lifetime sales In Japan to an impressive 8,042,166 units since March of 2017.
What makes this even more impressive is that PlayStation 4 family of systems — which includes both the Pro and Slim editions of Sony's popular console — has sold an estimate of 8,047,754 units in Japan since its release in November of 2013.
This means that the Nintendo Switch, in a bit over 2 years since its release, is only about 5,500 sales shy of outselling the PlayStation 4's lifetime sales — which is an impressive feat no matter how we look at it.
A few weeks ago, we found out that the
Nintendo Switch had already managed to surpass the Nintendo 64's lifetime sales, followed by the company revealing that they've sold over
34 million Nintendo Switch consoles worldwide.
Nintendo are really on a roll right now, and the Switch outselling the PlayStation 4's lifetime sales sometime soon is some really exciting news. It'll be definitely interesting to see how things develop over the next couple of weeks.
