According to an interview with the New York Times, Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aimé said that the Nintendo Switch has smashed Nintendo's previous 2-day sales record in the americas that previously belonged to the WiiU.
That isn't the only record that was broken during launch day. Fils-Aimé also mentioned that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has officially become the best selling standalone launch title in American Nintedo history. Super Mario 64 held the previous record.
The Nintendo's Wii U console sold an estimated 308,570 units in Japan back in December 2012. The console sold 694,370 units in its first five weeks in Japan and 890,000 units in its first six weeks in the United States. The numbers for the Nintendo Switch must be pretty nice from these numbers.
The device shipped in Japan, the United States, Canada, major European countries, Hong Kong, and other places on March 3. The console is priced US$299.99. Launch titles include I Am Setsuna, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and 1-2-Switch.
