Praised for its innovative controls, Square Enix's
The World Ends With You was one of the most creative role-playing games in 2007, when it was released for the Nintendo DS.
The game made use of the Nintendo DS touchscreen in a way that, even to this day, is considered to be the only game that took full advantage of everything the handheld had to offer.
Square Enix announced back in January that a Nintendo Switch version of the game was being developed in the form of
The World Ends With You: Final Remix, which will be releasing on the
12th of October.
Unlike the Nintendo DS, the Nintendo Switch does not have a double screen feature; for this reason, this version of the game will make use of the Joy-Con controllers' motion sensor in order to simulate the DS' stylus—keeping the combat as faithful as possible.
The new trailer for
The World Ends With You: Final Remix focuses on the game's story, as well as welcoming players to the shopping district of Shibuya, Tokyo; where the whole story takes place. Players will have to team up to face the Reapers, find Noise, and even fight the Noise in order to prevent being erased.
Take a look:
In the crowded chaos of Tokyo, players of the Reapers' Game must complete daily missions or face total erasure. Neku might not be enthusiastic about forging relationships, but with his very life on the line, he'll need to learn how to work together with a partner—and fast: they only have seven days.
The World Ends With You: Final Remix will be available for the Nintendo Switch on the 12th of October.
