THE WORLD ENDS WITH YOU: FINAL REMIX Will Not Be Compatible With The Nintendo Switch Pro Controller

Developed by Square Enix, The World Ends With You is a role-playing game with some action elements that was released for the Nintendo DS back in 2007.

One of the things this title is very well known for is the fact that it used the Nintendo DS double screen feature like no other game had before, or even since. The DS' touchscreen made for some very clever game design choices but The World Ends With You brought out its full potential, not to mention the game was also very well received by critics and gamers alike.

When The World Ends With You: Final Remix was announced for the Nintendo Switch, many wondered if the gameplay would remain unchanged, or if the game would be making use of the controllers to simulate the Nintendo DS' touchscreen.

It turns out that the game will be either using the Joy-Con controllers as pointers when playing in TV mode, or the Switch's touchscreen when playing in handheld mode. This is great news given that, this way, the game will remain as faithful to the original as possible. The bad news is that the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller will not be compatible at all.

According to US Gamer, The World Ends With You: Final Remix will not be compatible with the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller as they found out during a Nintendo demo event, in which they were only shown two ways to play the game; one with the Joy-Con controllers, and the other when playing in handheld and using the console's touch screen.

When they asked a Nintendo representative about the Pro Controller and whether this would offer a more traditional control scheme, they were told that the Pro Controller will not be supported at all. While this may be slightly disappointing to some, every Nintendo Switch comes with two Joy-Con controllers, which can be used in The World Ends With You: Final Remix's co-op multiplayer.

In the crowded chaos of Tokyo, players of the Reapers' Game must complete daily missions or face total erasure. Neku might not be enthusiastic about forging relationships, but with his very life on the line, he'll need to learn how to work together with a partner—and fast: they only have seven days.

The World Ends With You: Final Remix will be available for the Nintendo Switch on the 12th of October.
