Nintendo and Sega announced, back in March of this year, that they would be teaming up once again to bring players a brand-new Mario & Sonic at the Olympics, and we finally got an official gameplay trailer during this year's E3.

Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 will see characters from the Super Mario Bros. and Sonic the Hedgehog series competing in various olympic events — which are as varied as martial arts, tennis, rowing, and hurdles, to name a few.

While all of these events are definitely fun to play, Sega announced that players will actually be able to play some of these events in 2D with the classic 8-Bit and 16-Bit sprites from the original Super Mario Bros. game and the first Sonic the Hedgehog title; giving this new Mario & Sonic at the Olympics game a more retro feel.
