Analogue has recently announced the Analogue Pocket, which is a retro console that they themselves describe as a tribute to portable gaming and, truth be told, it does look very promising; already resembling Nintendo's iconic design of the Game Boy is a pretty good start.

The Analogue Pocket not only looks like a Game Boy, but it also allows players to play every single one of the titles in the Game Boy and Game Boy Advance's extensive library. As if that wasn't enough, the console will also allow players to play games from the Game Gear, Neo Pocket Color, Atari Lynx, and more.

Perhaps what's even more interesting is that the Analogue Pocket will also give players the option to dock the console and connect it to a TV via an HDMI cable in the same vein of the Nintendo Switch or the Super Game Boy before it; making it quite the versatile handheld hybrid console.

Analogue also revealed that the dock, however, will not be included in the package, and that this will allow for players to connect other controllers via Bluetooth or directly to the dock via a USB cable.

For those interested in the handheld console's specs, the Analogue Pocket features a 3.5", 615 ppi LCD screen with a resolution of 1600x1440p, which is actually 10 times the resolution of the original Game Boy; precisely what will make the games look sharp and clean on HD televisions when docked.

It is also worth mentioning that the Analogue Pocket is a console through and through, which will run actual video game cartridges; meaning that, unlike other products in the market, it is not intended to work as an emulator.

Analogue also thought about developers, by adding a second dedicated fpga(Field Programmable Gate Arrays) to the Pocket, which will allow developers to develop and port their own cores to the console; making the Analogue Pocket also a developing tool.

While Analogue didn't exactly reveal when the Analogue Pocket will become available, they do assure that the console will be releasing at some point in 2020 and that it will retail at $199.99 USD.

Take a look:

A multi-video-game-system portable handheld. A digital audio workstation with a built-in synthesizer and sequencer. A tribute to portable gaming. Out of the box, Pocket is compatible with the 2,780+ Game Boy, Game Boy Color & Game Boy Advance game cartridge library. Pocket works with cartridge adapters for other handheld systems, too. Like Game Gear. Neo Geo Pocket Color. Atari Lynx & more. Completely engineered in *two FPGAs.

Analogue Pocket is expected to become available in 2020.
