The Coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic has had a huge impact on the video game industry, and developers have been forced to postpone projects, and/or are required to work from home in order to prevent this deadly virus from spreading even further.
Much like every other video game developer out there, Bethesda was also forced to make some changes to help prevent its group of developers from getting infected, and today they have made a rather interesting announcement, as they want to do more than just stay at home and make games.
Bethesda revealed earlier today, via their official Twitter account, that they are planning on donating $1,000,000 USD to charities that are directly involved with COVID-19 relief efforts; specifically naming Direct Relief, UNICEF, and local COVID-19 relief efforts within communities they work and live.
To be even more specific, Bethesda revealed that they will be donating $500,000 to DIrect Relief, $250,000 to UNICEF, and $250 to the local communities they are involved with:
-$500,000 will be given to Direct Relief, a charity which is directly involved in COVID-19 relief efforts, including the critically important work of providing personal protective equipment to health care workers.
-$250,000 will go to UNICEF, which partners with front-line responders around the world to keep children and their families safe and protected.
-$250,000 will be donated to local COVID-19 relief efforts within the communities where we work and live. These recipients will be chosen by our individual studios and international offices. This way we can support worthy charities fighting COVID-19 in our local communities across the world.
Bethesda has also reassured fans that they are committed to finding ways to connect with them — be it via online communities, video game streaming sessions — while also encouraging them to stay safe and observe social distancing guidelines.
