Banjo-Kazooie and Conker's Bad Fur Day are two of the games developed by Rare that fans have been wanting to see making a long-awaited comeback, but both series haven't seen a game being released in well over a decade; to the point fans have nearly lost all hope.

The closest thing fans have had to a new game, at least in regards to the Banjo-Kazooie series, is the addition of Banjo and Kazooie to the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate roster, which also saw the characters getting a slight redesign that was actually better received than official redesigns from the notorious Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts.

Banjo and Kazooie being added to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate proved that there is still a huge amount of players who would be head over heels for a new Banjo-Kazooie game, although neither Microsoft nor Rare have mentioned anything in regards to this particular topic.

A recent interview, however, may give fans a little bit of hope, as Microsoft's Vice President of Gaming Phil Spencer has recently revealed some juicy details about the possibility of both the Banjo-Kazooie and Conker's Bad Fur Day series making a comeback.

"I leave it up to the studios in terms of the things that they want to go work on. I have a lot of respect for Rare and the work that they do," revealed Spencer in a recent interview with Kotaku.

He then adds: "They[Rare] do like building new things, and they've seen success with Sea of Thieves. I think they're really excited about Everwild. But also the response to Battletoads was nice. And I think [partner studio] Dlala did a good job with the game. And so I think it's just always a balance. My inbox is full of: 'Let every studio do new [intellectual property].' And also: 'Why have you brought back Crimson Skies and Blinx?'"

Basically, it's all up to Rare whether fans will eventually get to see a brand-new Banjo-Kazooie or Conker's Bad Fur Day ever coming to fruition. With all that said, Rare hasn't really worked on any big projects since Sea of Thieves, and that game had a rather disappointing launch.

The original team of developers that worked on the aforementioned games are now known as Playtonic, and have already released a Banjo-Kazooie spiritual successors in the form of Yooka-Laylee, so that would be the closest to a Banjo-Kazooie game fans can currently get their hands on.

Rare teaming up with the people over at Playtonic in order to develop either a new Banjo-Kazooie or Conker's Bad Fur Day game would be the ideal scenario, although it is also the less likely one. Hopefully fans will eventually have the chance to get the game they've been clamouring for; until then, it's ultimately up to Rare.
