Mighty No. 9 was, at one point, supposed to become the new spiritual successor to Capcom's
Mega Man series — after a ridiculously successfull Kickstarter campaign that managed to surpass a staggering 3 million dollars; money that backers still don't know where it went.
Upon release, the game was poorly received by critics and fans of the
Mega Man series for being an uninspired game that captured none of the
Mega Man series' essence, and was full of glitches unacceptable for a project that had nearly 4 million dollars at its disposal.
According to new information,
Mighty No.9 has already been removed from the Japanese PlayStation Store, on the 15th of November, and it is likely due to Spike Chunsoft not renewing their publishing deal with Deep Silver, which is the game's publisher in the West.
If this was really the case, chances of the game being pulled from other regions' PlayStation Store is unlikely but it is still wise to purchase the game as a "just in case" kind of measure. That is, of course, if players are willing to purchase and actually play the game; if players haven't tried it out yet, chances are they simply don't care about it.
It is also worth reminding that players who have already purchased a digital copy of
Mighty No. 9 can still download the game from the PlayStation Store. Those who still haven't, however, are probably not missing out any way.
In the year 20XX, where advanced robotics are used to maintain public order, a robot fighting venue called the Battle Colosseum becomes the stage for a global disruptive act. Here the Mighty Numbers, nine siblings and the most popular and powerful combatants of their time, become infected with a mysterious computer virus.
Mighty No. 9 is currently available for the PlayStation 3, Nintendo Wii U, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
